Eventually eight WKRC members set of on the reliability trial. It was cold but not icy, also foggy which of course meant little wind. Before we had the chance to settle into any rhythm, young Albert busy gassing away had torn the side of his tyre and tube. Cold fingers all round lead to a […]

  8. Four riders went to Westerham

Well the alarm went off at 7:30am 6th Dec and I struggled to get out of bed as you do on a Saturday morning and especially this time of year, so I didn’t actually get up until 8am. Quick call around to see who was up for a ride as this wasn’t a planned club […]

  17. KCA (Un)Reliability Trial

Let me be clear from the start. This title in no way reflects the KCA. The event is well run with dedicated volunteers each time and is run over a great course.   This story could have easily been called “Attack Of The Hairy Beasts” or “The Gimp Man Cometh”     Before we even […]

  18. Sportive Calendars

Okay so the winter is approaching – the clocks go back at the end of the month, and maybe challenging yourself over long distances with plenty of climbing isn’t the most appealing thought     BUT   There are plenty of sportives all year to keep the legs going round.   Why not have […]

  19. Saturday training ride.

What washout? It had stopped raining by quarter past eight and not too cold. Alright, the roads were a bit damp, but the West Kent Hard Core loonies were there. Hopefully by now, most have seen that the West Kent RC have a regular Saturday training ride, so if you are thinking of trying it out, or have a weekend pass to go and tire yourself out so that you don’t “pester” your partner when the light goes down, I’m told by those that have ridden […]

  25. Race – Winchester Criterium. (Cat: 3) (Pos: DNF) (Albert Townley)

The biggest lesson today was if you do not start near the front in a criterium you have lost before the race has begun, unless your head and shoulders above the rest but I am not, the headquarters was really difficult to get to unless you have raced the event before, I was not in […]

  31. Big Bad Bertha Batters Bonkers Bikers

Wow! With quality alliteration like that I should write for one of the daily rags…..or maybe not. This mornings Club Run was always going to be a bit of a gamble, The weather reports told of “The End Of Days” but then the press do tend to hyper mega massively hugely extremely over-exaggerate the slightest […]
